BROWN RAT

You know the old saying? You are never more than six feet from a rat.

A bit of an exaggeration, but they are more common than you would suspect.

Regarded as great survivors. This is due to their undoubted intelligence and varied diet. Proof of their intelligence or wariness is seen when you try to trap them.

It must be more than coincidence that it is always young rats trapped first, and a long time after before an adult will enter a trap, if ever.

They can be seen occasionally at the fishery, but the foxes keep their population in check.
