The colourful members of the crow family. Twenty years ago they were quite rare in the North East of Scotland, but have now spread to inhabit most woodland, especially oak woods and mature Scots Pine forests.

Either their raucous call or flash of white in flight gives them away.

Intelligent and wary birds, they feed mainly on nuts and berries.
