DEESIDE WILDLIFE
LONG TAILED TIT
One of the least common of the tit family.
Long tailed tits nearly always appear in family parties. The youngsters of summer stick with their parents right through autumn and winter, only separating in spring to hold their own territories. For such a little timid bird, they are fearless on feeders, holding their own against blue, great, and coal tits.
Their nest is a work of art to behold. Made of moss, lichen, spiders web, hair, it forms a ball with a small opening near the top.
