Osprey update
The ospreys have settled in well since their arrival and occupancy in April.
They have three chicks, although one appears to be smaller.

The male had an easy time to begin with when the chicks were small, taking in just 2 to 3 fish a day, with lots of time to sit around preening. Now that the chicks are half grown he has to work harder, bringing in up to 5 fish a day. He appears to catch mainly trout and eels, but here is the mystery. The fishery, full of trout, is on the doorstep, but when he sets off to fish he gains height until he is a speck below the clouds. Wherever he fishes it must be far off, and he mostly continues to ignore the fish within sight of the nest taking only occasional early morning fish. Most peculiar! If anyone has a theory you must let me know!
